Mrs. Mary”Mollie”Brosius

Her Story

 

     Mary “Mollie” (Price) Brosius was born in 1861 near Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee to John Livingston Price (Oct. 4, 1927-Feb.23, 1894) and Lucretia Elizabeth Battoe(Dec. 4,1839-1929).  She was the 2nd child of nine children born to the parents.  Through the 1880 census she resided with her family in Nashville, Tennessee.  Her father was listed as Sheriff in the 1880 census.

     On March 29, 1882 she joined in marriage with William Lewis Brosius of Daviess Co. Missouri. In 1895 ,May 4tha son Joseph Herman was born to William and Mollie. He died on September 7, 1895 and is buried in Lile Cemetery , Gallatin, Missouri. They lived in Gallatin, Missouri in the census of 1900 and had two children by this time. William L.-7 and Lou Etta 17.  Her husband was a Physician and practiced Medicine in Gallatin, Missouri.

      In September , 14th ,1907 Mollie Brosius applied for membership to D.A.R. , thru mother’s family linage. Randolph Johnston served in the Army of North Carolina during the Revolutionary War.  Mollie Brosius was granted membership on September 17,1907

     The family were still living in Gallatin, Missouri in the census of 1910.  Her husband Dr. William L. Borsius died in 1918 and is buried in Lile Cemetery, Gallatin, Missouri.

     In the census of 1930 Mollie Brosius was noted as living in Nashville with three women of similar age, and listed as a boarder.  I did not find her in census of 1920.

     In the census of 1940 she was listed as living in San Antonio , Texas as a lodger, with twenty plus people.  She died in 1942 and is buried in Lile Cemetery, Gallatin Missouri with her husband.
