Helen Britt(Mrs. H.G. Britt

Her Story

 

    Helen Britt was born in New York in 1836. She was married to Henry G. Britt also born in New York, in 1835.  Not much known about marriage or family.

      In the census of 1860 Helen and Henry G. were living in Wynona, Columbus Co. Wisconsin, and they had a 1 yr old daughter name of Julia.

        On July 1,1863 Henry signed up in Wisconsin to fight in the Civil War. 

          In the census of 1870 Henry and Helen were living in Caldwell Co. Missouri and had three children , Julia-12, Frank-1 and Fred-1, probably twin boys.

         When the 1880 census was done Julia no longer lived at home, but Helen, Henry , Frank and Fred lived  at home, a person named Cata Cadmon(17) lived with them at this point.

         In 1891 Mrs. H.G. Britt filed for Invalid Pension re: Henry.  Possibly due to war injury.

         In 1893 Helen Britt died and was buried in Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Mo.

        In 1895 Henry Britt was admitted to Old Soldiers Home, Leavenworth, Kansas, and appears o have lived their until his death in 1915. He is buried at Highland cemetery, Hamilton, Mo. along with his wife and son Fred.
