John Rudolph Nielson Sr.

NIELSON, JOHN R., shoemaker, son of Neils and Karen, was born in Norway March 23, 1854. He 
served an apprenticeship of three and a half years and learned his trade in Norway. Joined 
the Mormon Church in 1875 and in 1880 came to Utah, locating in Salt Lake City, where he 
remained four years. In 1884 he came to Manti aud opened a shoe shop at No. 7 Union street,
where he employs two men at the bench in manufacturing boots and shoes. Also owns a stock 
of boots and shoes of about 1000. He owns his shop, two stores next to it aud a residence 
in the city. Is quite a worker in the Mormon Church. Was married in Salt Lake City September
16, 1880, to Jensina M. Jensen. They have seven children: Joseph G., Anna M., Jensina
Martha, John R. N., Niels J. A., Karen Otelie E. and Otto T.
