ANNA DUSTON HER STORY

Anna Duston
Her Story

Anna Duston was born in 1866 the second child of Hugh Philander Duston and Hannah Florena (Ernsbarger) Duston.  She was born in Caldwell Co. Missouri and in 1870 and 1880 census resided on family farm near Kingston, Missouri with her parents and siblings, Margaret, Harlie, John H. and Robert.
In 1895 in Caldwell County, Missouri she joined in marriage with C.A. Hatton (Clarence) of Mount Hope, Sedgwick Co. Kansas.
In 1900 I found a Clarence A. Hatton and Anna living in Indiana, which is where her husband was born, no children listed as with family.
In the city directory of Wichita, Kansas in 1910,1912,1915 are listed as C.A. Hatton and Anna Hatton as residing in that city.
In the census of 1920, I find Anna Hatton, born in Missouri as living in Mount Hope, Kansas and listed as divorced, head of household, and renting.  She is listed as working in a furniture store.
In the census of 1930 Anna Hatton is living back in Caldwell County, Missouri with her younger brother John H., they reside in Hamilton, Missouri.  In this census she lists self as widowed.  I did find that C.A. Hatton had died in Kansas in 1923.  No children were ever listed as living in the households.
In the census of 1940 Anna is still residing with her brother John H. in Hamilton, Mo.
