John Ernest “Johnnie” Bebermeyer
John Ernest Bebermeyer was born in Hamilton, Caldwell County Missouri to parents Henry Conrad and Mary Lucy (Ullmer) Bebermeyer on April 1, 1888. The family lived in Kingston, Caldwell County Missouri. He was the fourth child of six born to Henry C. and Mary Lucy. In the census of 1900 Johnnie was listed as being 12 yrs old.
In the census of 1910 he was living in St. Joseph Missouri, and listed as a boarder in a rooming house. On September 15, 1913 he joined in marriage with Faye E. Sparks (1893-1915) of Caldwell County. I found in the Highland Cemetery a Gertrude M. Bebermeyer daughter of John Ernest and Faye E. (Sparks ) Bebermeyer ,no dates listed. Faye (Sparks) Bebermeyer is buried under maiden name, in Highland Hamilton Cemetery. In 1917, Johnnie signed up for the WWI draft registration, and is listed as single at this time. He is listed as being a mechanic, and working for A.Houghton in Kingston, Missouri.
In the census of 1920 John Bebermeyer was listed as widowed and living with parents Henry C. and Lucy Bebermeyer, along with sister Flora, and the residence was in Emporia, Lyons Co. Kansas.
In the 1940 census John Bebermeyer is living in Emporia, Kansas he owns his own electric business and it states he has had 2 years of college. At this time he is married to Florence (Flossie Ann Wilkerson) Bebermeyer and they have an 11 year old son, born in 1929.
The city directories show the family living at same town and address through the 50 and 60’s.
John Ernest Bebermeyer died on March 28,1982, and is buried in Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia ,Kansas. His 2nd wife Florence died in 1962 and is also buried there.
