W. H.  AUSTIN  (HIS STORY)

 

William H Austin was born in Herkimer County New York, on April 7th 1844.  He died at his home in Hamilton , MO on February 22nd 1904.  He enlisted in a New York Light artillery CO. In 1864 and served until the end of the war.  He came to Caldwell County, MO in 1865 with his first wife Lydia Tinney (who died in 1884).  He farmed in New York Township.  In 1884 he moved to Hamilton, MO.  Two children of his first marriage were Alice (Austin) Stephens, and Louise (Austin) Guffey. In 1899 he married Mrs Mary McMurtry. He was buried in the Hamilton, MO Cemetery.
