Harriet (Shuey) Johnston

Her Story

     Harriet Shuey was born on December 11,1831 in Harris, Centre, Pennsylvania to Joseph Shuey(1801-1877) and Julia Ann (Albright) Shuey (1801- )  She grew up in Pennsylvania and was married to Thomas Wilson Johnston on January 25,1859 in Pennsylvania. Of the eight children she birthed ,baby #5 died at 1 year of age, and baby #8 died at 1 year of age, the rest of the children grew to adult hood.  Some married, two to the children continued to live with their parents into their middle age, never having married.

     Harriet passed away on April 24,1911, 6 years before her husband. They are buried in Kingston, Cemetery along with six of the children and their families.
