Maria Frances (Cox) Streeter

Their story

 

     Judson Streeter was born in Courtland Co. New York, on March 15, 1844.  He was the oldest child of Horace and Cornelia.  He came to Missouri in 1855 with his parents. In the 1860 census he was at this time living with his parents and 5 of his siblings.

       When Judson was only 17 years of age, he signed up to fight in the Civil War, as his father had also done.  He enlisted in the 6^th Missouri S.M. Cav. Entered with the rank of Private. He remained throughout the war.  He was also listed as having been a member of Capt. James’ Co. (inf. Kingston, Mo. Home Guard, early in the war.

     On December 26, 1863 Judson married Maria Frances (Cox). She was born in Missouri on April 3, 1848 to Daniel L. and Maria (Zackary) Cox. She had two brothers Fred and John. She died on Oct. 5, 1934 and is buried in Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Mo.

     During the war his two oldest daughters lived with their grandparents off and on.  In the 1870 census both of the daughters were counted at Horace B. Streeter and Judson Horace Streeters farm, the land adjoined .

      It is noted that in 1885 his wife “Frannie” applied for pension due to Judson being an invalid.

     In 1911 the family moved to Arkansas, living there and in Southwest Missouri for about 14 years. 

      Judson H. Streeter died on September 4, 1924.  He leaves his wife, and four daughters, and nine grandchildren as survivors.  Josie( Streeter) Borden, Miss Alice and Alfred who live with their mother in Noel, Missouri.  Mrs. Ida Green of California, Mrs. Nellie Dunavan of Kansas City, Kansas, also Mrs. Laura Kinne (deceased and Mrs. Frank Mapes (deceased) Mary and Geni who died in infancy.

     He is buried in Highland, Cemetery, Hamilton, Missouri.
