WINDER BLACKSTONE DODDRIDGE HIS STORY

Winder Blackstone Doddridge

His Story

Winder is the third son of Blackstone and Sarah Doddridge.  He was born in Caldwell Co. Missouri on August 22,1877. He lived with family until age 19, at which time he moved to Chicago Illinois in 1896.  His oldest brother Joseph was living and working there at this time.

 

He married a Nellie (Dixon) some time before the 1910 census. She was born in Sabetha ,Kansas, in 1886. Listed as living with mother and siblings in Chicago in the 1900 census.  In 1917 Winder registered for the draft of WW I.  They had two children, Lee B. born June 2, 1908, and Lois Veronica born Feb. 22,1906, both in Chicago, Illinois.

On his death notice it is stated that he was a retired wire Salesman.  He died from heart failure, on December 17,1936  after an illness of two years, He is buried in  
Cedar Park Cemetery, Chicago Illinois. His wife Nellie is listed in 1940 census still living in Chicago, with son Lee B.  She died in September 1963,in Los Angeles , California and is buried at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.  Their son Lee B. also died that same year in California, but in April, 1963 ,preceding her in death. 

Lois Veronica is listed a dying in Birmingham, Michigan as of yet haven’t found much information on her life.
