William Addison Hogsett Mrs M. I. Hogsett(Margaret) Mary Hogsett. Their Story

William Addison Hogsett
Mrs M. I. Hogsett(Margaret)
Mary Hogsett.
Their Story

William A. Hogsett was born on Nov.5, 1821 in Augusta Co. Virginia to James Hogsett (1785-1826) and Elizabeth (Manuell) Hogsett (1794-1867). He lived with his family in Virginia until he joined in marriage to Margaret I. Cauffman also of Augusta Co. Virginia in July 1842.
They resided in Virginia until 1847, when they arrived in Ohio. He began a business of pump making, and continued that branch of business along with farming.  In 1868 the family moved from Ohio to Caldwell Co. Missouri, where he purchased 160 acres of land North of Kingston, Missouri.  The couple had 9 children born to them, 8 of them survived to adult hood. The oldest living child Mary was born in Virginia, the remaining 7 were born in Ohio, 6 of them accompanied the parents to Missouri.  Mary, William, George, Anna, Laura and Lucretia. Older son James F. remained in Hardin Co. , Ohio.
In the 1886 History of Livingston and Caldwell Counties there is a page dedicated to Mr. William A. Hogsett and his family. (see attached Find-a-Grave sheet).
I was unable to connect the different William Hogsett’s with this particular man as to whether he served during the Civil War.  None of the ages quite matched, nor place of birth, but I did find several with same name, on both sides of the war.
It seems they lived on family farm until their deaths . William died on Dec.8, 1901 and wife Margaret died Sept.6, 1909. I was unable to find them listed in the 1900 census, perhaps living with one of the children. They are both buried in Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Missouri.
Daughter Mary lived with parents through 1880 census. She was born on Dec. 9, 1843 and died on Jan. 26, 1931. I did find a marriage certificate for a James Perry from Ohio, joining in marriage with a Mary J. Hogsett of Hamilton, Mo. It was on March 24,1890. Unable to know if this same person, because specific ages not listed. I found a Mary J. Perry listed as living with Frank James Hogsett in Kingston, and listed as being the Aunt. The age works out correctly. Unable to find her specifically in 1910, 1920 census. She is listed as widowed in the census of 1930.  Mary is buried in Highland Cemetery, under name Mary J. Hogsett. She died Jan. 26, 1931.
