Working for Taco Bell was quite an experience . Taco’s and Burrito’s were 29 cents . the reason the charged 29 cents were so when you added a penny sales tax it came out to an even 30 cents and it was easier to make change . Crazy theory but that was Taco Bell. Late one evening we had a Oklahoma State Senator come into our Taco Bell on North West 23rd Street drunker that a skunk . He said

he wanted one of everything . We looked at each other and said OK sir . Regular Taco ; Taco with no meat ; Taco with no lettuce ; Taco with no cheese ; Taco with extra meat ; Taco with extra Lettuce ; Taco with extra cheese ; Regular Burrito ; Burrito with no beans ; Burrito with no sauce ; Burrito with no onions ; Burrito with no cheese ; Burrito with extra beans ; Buritto with extra sauce ; Buritto with extra onions ; Burrito with extra cheese ; Then we went into the Tostatda’s and the Frijole’s and the Bellburger’s and anything else we could come up with including four different kinds of drinks with no ice ; extra ice ; etc total order twenty plus dollars two plus large sacks of food . He carried ALL of his food over to a table sat down and ate a couple of items out of the sacks got up and staggered out the door to be never seen again . I guess we made him a very satisfied customer .

Then their was the time that Gladys Knight and the Pips came to town . We had the lobby all cleaned up ready for closing ; Floors mopped ; tables cleaned off ; walls wiped down ; and all of a sudden there was a line wrapping around the outside of the building to the back of the store . There was only two of us working and we wasn’t expecting such a large rush so late at night . Every one was ordering one and two items plus a drink and bless their sweet hearts I don’t know if they felt sorry for us or what but not one of them stayed . The concert had let out and within 45 minutes it was all over . I think the two of us did over $100.00 of business in that 45 minutes . That’s a lot of 29 cent tacos .
