Special Christmas Gift 1995

Doug and I were married on March 30, 1996. This was not the first marriage for either of us and we came to the marriage having already lived a large portion of our adult lives. Much of our married life had been spent living and traveling full time in our 36 foot motor home. We had explored the wonders and the beauty of our country together and had visited each of state except for Hawaii.

One of the places that I had previously lived was Hawaii, being stationed there for 3 years while in the Navy in the early 1980s. Doug had never been and fequently mentioned his desire to see Hawaii. Hawaii is a diverse paradise and I wanted to share this with Doug. So, as my Christmas gift to him, I arranged for us to spend our 10th Wedding Anniversary exploring Hawaii for two weeks. The look on his face was priceless and my precious Christmas gift!

Hi Connie. I am envious of your travels and want to do much the same with Christine some day.

I don't know what happened but Doug's photo is not displaying for me. Maybe it needs to be inserted from the photo gallery on top of the editor. Let me know if I can help.

I reattached the photo of Doug. Hope it is showing properly now. This was taken at a luau and of course Doug had to have a temporary tattoo to get into the spirit of things!

Connie, Isn't the atmosphere and hospitality of Hawaii fantastic? Diane and I were able to go to Kauai in May of 2010 with her sister, Colleen. It is an experience like no other! The beauty is fabulous, and I'm sure you and Doug enjoyed all of that, as well.

Golden, I loved living in Hawaii for three years. It is such an amazing place, I knew that I had to share it with Doug. Each of the islands are different and I enjoyed exploring them during weekend trips. It is hard to choose a favorite island as each has so much to offer. During our trip in 1996, I was able to share four of the islands by taking an island cruise and land excursions. We stayed at the military hotel on Oahu for a few days before and after the cruise.

Now that is a cool picture! Doug looks like he knows his way around. I can only imagine the goings on in that RV over the years!
