NELLIE GERTRUDE STREETER (HER STORY)

Nellie Gertrude Streeter

Her Story

     Nellie Gertrude Streeter was born on Feb. 4th, 1882 to parents Judson Horace Streeter and Maria Frances (Cox) Streeter in Hamilton, Caldwell Co. Missouri.

     In the 1900 census she resided in Kingston City, Caldwell Co. Mo. with her parents and sister Blanche and brother Alfred.

     In 1901 she was united in marriage to Willis Linnwood Dunavan in Hamilton, Caldwell County. Missouri.

     Before the 1910 census where the couple were living in Paris, Linn County. Kansas they had 6 children in the family. Do not know when they moved to Kansas, Willis listed as a farmer on census. 

      The 1920 census show the family living over on the Missouri side, in Homer, Bates County. Missouri, but in 1925 Kansas census they were back in Linn County. Kansas, and had a total of 8 children in the family.

     The 1930 census has them still in Linn County. Kansas with a 9th child with the two older children not living at home.

      In the census of 1940 some of the other children were not living at home, but older daughter Alice and 4 children living with Willis and Nellie in Linn County. Kansas.  An older son living with them at this time and listed as a farm hand, with father listed as farmer.

      Willis L. Dunavan registered for the WWI draft on Sept. 12, 1918, did not find if he served in military during this time.

      Willis L. Dunavan died in 1955 and is buried at Pleasanton Cemetery in Linn County. Kansas.

      Nellie Gertrude (Streeter) Dunavan died on September 6th 1971 in Linn County. Kansas and is also buried in Pleasanton Cemetery, Linn County. Kansas.
