Grandma Peterson's Granola Recipe

Grandma Peterson’s Granola

8 cups rolled oats

6 cups rolled wheat

2 cups untoasted wheat germ

2-3 cups shredded coconut

2 cups bran

2 tsp salt

1 ½ c brown sugar

1 c dry non-fat milk

½ c honey

1 c cooking oil(corn oil best)

1 c water

In a large bowl combine and mix well the dry ingredients. Then add cooking oil, water, and honey and mix thoroughly until all flakes have been coated and separated.  Spread onto cookie sheets and bake at 225° F. for two hours, stirring occasionally, until mixture is toasted.

After cooking, stir in 1 lb. raisins, 1 lb. chopped dates, 2 cups of chopped almonds and three teaspoons vanilla.

Store in air-tight containers. Should probably be refrigerated. Makes about two gallons.
